Bing and National Geographic Magazine Join Hands to Generate High Resolution Digital Map Data Excellent for Geo Targeting and Local Search
Jump Start News -- 120 years worth of back issues of National Geographic Magazine are now available both as hosted content as well as in a DVD set and have been configured to work well for geo targeting through Bing Maps.
What makes the experiment even more interesting is that Microsoft’s search engine Bing powers its map search function through Bing Maps. A new Geobrowse function powered by Bing Maps that allows users with Internet access lets you search nearly 5,000 locations on a globe that are featured in the magazine's archive of articles and maps from 1400 issues of the magazine. Content that references map data in the digital repository includes articles, reports, illustrations and advertisements.
